Type L
The Italian
"Comes in two sizes, because one would be too simple."
Type L is used in Italy, San Marino, the Vatican, Chile, Libya, Eritrea, and a few other places. Three round pins in a straight row, with the ground in the middle.
Things to know
- Two sizes. The 10 A version has thin pins; the 16 A version has thicker, wider-spaced pins. They are not interchangeable. Of course they aren't.
- Europlugs fit the 10 A sockets.
- The "bipasso" socket. Many Italian sockets accept both sizes, and modern ones often accept Schuko plugs too.
Plugbert's verdict
Stylish and slightly dramatic. A Type C adapter covers most of your needs in Italy.
