Some of your plugs fit South Africa's sockets directly. Grounded or chunkier ones need help.

What to pack

Plugbert recommends

Type C (Europlug) adapter

Some plugs from Burundi fit the Type C, D, M and N sockets in South Africa and some don't, so pack an adapter. A Type C (Europlug) adapter fits 2 of the 4 listed socket families there. For grounded devices, get a Type D (Indian 3-pin) adapter for a compatible grounded outlet instead; it does not fit every listed outlet. Socket variants can differ; check the actual outlet and adapter rating.

For equipment requiring earth, choose a Type D (Indian 3-pin) adapter for a compatible grounded outlet. Check its supported inputs and rated load. A two-pin output cannot provide an earth connection.

Tip: a "universal" travel adapter may be useful for several destinations. Check its wall-side plugs, grounding and power limits against your trip.

Check the voltage rating
South Africa uses 230 V and Burundi uses 220 V, but similar nominal voltages do not guarantee compatibility. Check that your device's input rating covers the destination supply.

Plugbert's note on South Africa
South Africa is mid-migration from the chunky Type M to the newer Type N. Expect both. Expect confusion.
